The short version
What you bring to a session — your words, your documents — is held in the app's active session memory while you work, and removed when you finish, stop, or leave. It is not written to disk, not logged, and not stored with your account. That is a promise about this app. It is not a promise about the outside services that help produce an answer; the section called “The honest boundary” says what they do. This site runs no ad trackers. It does keep anonymous daily totals of page visits, link clicks, and thumbs up or down on answers — plain numbers that identify no one; the list below says exactly what. Our sign-in and payment providers set the cookies they need to work.
What we hold, and for how long
- Your session material (typed words, pasted text, files, photo text): active session memory only. Removed when you finish, stop, or leave. The "Stop — forget this now" button removes it immediately.
- Photos and PDFs: read into text on your own device, in your browser. The photo or PDF itself is not uploaded; only the text is sent to produce an answer.
- Speaking your question: if you speak your question, your browser turns it into text, and your browser maker's own terms apply to that audio. Only the text reaches itclicks.
- Deleting your data: you can ask us to delete your account and email address by writing to hello@itclicks.app. We keep a record of each past purchase (amount, date, status, and the payment processor's reference) without your email. The payment processor keeps its own payment records under its own terms.
- Your email address: kept to verify you, meter the one free preview per person, and let you sign back in to use credits you've purchased. Not used for newsletters. Never sold.
- Keep mode (your choice, off by default): if you turn it on for a conversation, it's saved encrypted on your own device and never touches our servers — you can export it as notes or delete it any time. Forget mode, the default, holds the conversation only in that browser tab's memory.
- Operational counts (how many sessions ran, whether they completed, failures): numbers and states only, never content. This is how we keep the service healthy without reading anyone's material.
- Visit counts and thumbs taps: how many times each page was opened, how many times each link was clicked, and how many thumbs-up and thumbs-down taps answers received — added up per day, as plain numbers. We use no cookie for this, and the counts hold no IP address and no account, device, or session identifier. Nothing about what you asked or were answered is recorded. (The company that hosts the site keeps its own routine server records, which we don't control.) That also means we can't tell who you are, and can't count unique visitors. If your browser sends "Do Not Track" or Global Privacy Control, your page opens and link clicks are not counted at all. A thumbs tap is something you choose to do, so it is always counted. If you tap thumbs-down you can choose to write to us through the Contact form; anything you send there is stored as you wrote it, so we can read and answer it.
The honest boundary
Producing an explanation uses an outside AI service (Anthropic). What you type or add is sent to it to write each answer. It may keep that data for a limited time under its own terms — up to 30 days in its standard policy, and longer if its safety systems flag it or the law requires. Its published commitments say it does not use retained data to train its models without permission. We have not contracted for zero retention.
When itclicks looks something up on the web to explain it, the search terms and page requests go to that provider's web tools and to the websites involved. We tell the AI to leave your personal details out of them, but we can’t guarantee it, and a website may log what it is asked for. Because of all this, our promise is scoped to this app: material is removed from the app's active session when you finish or leave. Before you add anything, take out what the explanation doesn’t need — passwords, account numbers, government ID numbers, and detailed medical or financial identifiers.
Other services help run itclicks: sign-in, payments, account and credit records, email, and hosting. None of them is sent what you bring to a session. They handle your email address and payment details under their own terms.
What we never do
- We never sell your data or your address.
- We never use your session material to advertise to you.
- We never show your material to our own staff — our operations tools see reference numbers and counts only, by design.
- We never turn Keep mode on for you — you choose it, every time.
Payments
Card details are handled by our payment processor; itclicks never sees your card number. The cost is always shown before anything is charged.
